The end of August means the beginning of The Fringe Festival, and what
better way to get things started then with a FREE concert in
Centennial Square sponsored by THE ZONE 91.3 FM, featuring Last
Gang recording artists from Vancouver, Mother Mother, plus locals Vince
Vaccaro and Meatdraw! Fringe Visa buttons will be sold 2-for-$5 onsite
during this event! It's also your big chance to dance with Fringe

peeks and promos of their upcoming shows, opening night ticket giveaways,

The Fringe's 100% FREE end-of-summer splash for kids returns
with live music, entertainment, face-painting,
daredevil stunts, and oodles of fun stuff to make and do! Live
entertainment includes stilt-walkers, a real-live Faerie Princess,
music from Zox of the Forest, a juggling workshop, Didi and Gogo the
friendly Fringe mascots, and Major Conrad Flapps! And don't miss the
cardboard castle, where the walls are a walk-in canvas that
young artists can paint! If you're able, bring along a donation of
new school supplies for Backpack Attack, Market Square's program
for kids in need headed back to school.

FRINGEKIDS DRAMA CAMP has participants involved in all aspects
of production. From the theoretical to the practical, participants
will design, develop and star in their own production. Using elements
of improvisation, sketch comedy, character study the actors will create
something that is suitable for their friends and family. The emphasis
is on fun, creativity and teamwork. If you have ever had a desire

This two-day event studies and shares strategies, tools, concepts
and techniques to promote diversity in theatre. Master classes,
workshops, presentations, and discussions with
topics such as social responsibility, education and training, storytelling,
blood memory, the First Nations performer, multilingualism and translation.
